reflection on act 2

So far I think that twelfth night is a good play. It is a lot more interesting than the things that we normally read for school. In the story there is a lot of things that make it confusing. One thing is who likes who. This makes it hard to keep track of this. Also the other part that makes it confusing is the language. It was written in a different way so there are a lot of terms that are hard to understand. The story is really funny though, and the no fear shakespeare with the translation helps a lot. Twelfth Night is a really easy story to relate to because there is always someone that you no or you that likes someone but nothing will ever happen between them.

ADHD

Mark Rapport took a group of 23 boys ages 8 to 12. Twelve of these boys had an ADHD diagnose. I think that the research has an interesting outcome. Some of the things are positive and some are negative. If kids move around in class and fidget i don't necessarily think that they will learn more, but each kid is different and how they learn is different also. So, even kids who have ADHD may learn differently from other kids who have ADHD. If you let some kids move in class though that will make other kids want to move around too, even if they don't have a medical excuse.

I think that Rapport's study was a very good move and that parents of children with ADHD should try to help there kids by using Rapport's method. Although, the tests were only on a small group of kids so to find out if it helps all kids i think that you would need to test more children. So, I'm not really sure if I agree or disagree. ♥

act one personal reflection thing

In act one of twelfth night it is just the beginning of the story. So far it seems very funny. The play was written a long time ago but it is easy to relate to if you look into. You can't just say that you relate to it because you dress up as a guy, but when you look at other stuff as in your in love with someone who is in love with someone else. This happens to many people. Some of the story is hard to understand because it was written a long time ago, though with the translation on the side it makes it easier to understand. I like the no fear shakespeare because it makes it so easy to relate to it. The actual story though is a little hard to understand even if it was written in present day language. This is because a love triangle forms. The love triangle goes like this Orsino is in love with Olivia, but she falls in love with his new servant Cesario. The only problem is Cesario is really a girl dressed as a guy. So Cesario is really Viola and she is in love with Orsino who also thinks that she is a guy. I think that its really funny that the love triangle it so messed up and that Olivia is in love with a girl but she doesn't know it. ♥

slang is just informal words being used.

in class today we read a story called the lesson.

it used a lot of slang that african americans used to use.

slang is used in every time period but each has its own slang words.

some of the ones used in the story were hard to understand.

a lot of the slang that our generation uses just entails taking away letters from a word.

many words that are slang now for racial words were perfectly fine to say in the past.

if people use slang to much now they will get into bad habits which will effect them later in life when they are trying to get a job and they are in an interview.♥

i think in "2br02b" the idea of people dying for babies to be born is a good idea.

though, i think that the idea if know one volunteers the babies have to die.

there are almost always people who want to die but if know one wants to die right then, then the babies would have to die.

this isn't right because the babies were just born.

they were probably alive for less than an hour.

they have no say in whether to be alive or to not be alive, their just killed.

it is almost the same thing as killing an innocent person.

i can't think of a better way to keep the population low, but i think that if people tried hard enough they could think of a much better way.

to keep the population low you don't need to kill innocent people.♥

ok so today was super fun

i went to see the home for the holidays parade thing in westwood except we more watched it from inside starbucks

it was me sarah and shellie

i got a cappuccino and put 5 packets of sugar(not even kidding) in it which is not the best idea because it will keep you awake for hours

then shellie's parents picked us up and dropped us at sarah's house

we were in sarah's room and we made video's of us being stupid and we annoyed her brothers friends who were outside by playing music obnoxiously loud

then it started to snow it was so cold though so we went back inside

one of her brothers friends wanted to come in and we were about to go out and the door was locked so shellie opened it and then her sarah's dad told us we had to go back to sarah's room

so then we mad more videos and took more pictures

tomorrow i'm going to see a play on broadway with my mom so yeah♥

i knew that and also that people die from it

that seems bad but people can die from other things

aids in our country is not that bad

online i saw a tee-shirt

when i read what it said it made me realize that its a lot worse than we all think or at least than i thought

on the tyra show today, december 5th tyra had a 13 year old girl from a middle class home who thought that she was so unfortunate because she had to do "a lot" of work.

things such as cleaning her room, doing her homework and other chores.

they brought the girl to the studio thinking that she was going to have a photo shoot when really she was trading lives with a child from a less fortunate place than her.

she had to go through a lot of things which were normal for kids like noah such as walking 3 miles to get water that was dirty and contaminated but the only water available, working for cold simple food such as rice, and begging for money and in 3 hours only collecting $2.

the entire thing was planned out by tyra and alicia keys but she didn't know and just thought that it was torture and was not right until she met noah and heard his story.

noah is an hiv positive kid who dreams of becoming a musician so he can support his family

alicia keys, the founder of an organization called keep a child alive, and went to the town where he lives in africa and brought him back to the united states.

she brought him back and he recorded his music and performed at a fundraiser for alicia keys organization called the black ball

today he was on the tyra show and tyra banks gave him $5,000 in his country's money which does not seem like that much money but it is enough money to last his mother, grandmother, and his siblings a year, pay the families debt, start a business for his grandmother so she doesn't not need to travel as much.

noah was also given clothing that was very much need, an ipod with his music alicia keys, and a chance to perform on the tyra banks show

on wednesday, december 4, the jonas brothers were nominated with their first grammy ever.

the were nominated for best new artist.

none of them accepted it at all.

joe told shaun robinson, "wow! [we] really didn't expect it at all.

“We really like football. So, possibly a nice flag football game with some of our friends,” said Nick when he was asked how they were going to celebrate.

joe had a different idea of how to celebrate, he told shaun robinson, “maybe some pinkberry, it’s like having ice-cream, but afterwards you don’t feel like, ‘Oh, I just had a bunch of ice cream.’ You feel like, ‘All right, I feel good.’”

the jonas brothers are up for the award along with, leona lewis, coldplay, lady gaga, and carrie underwood.

Rhee Tackles Classroom Challenge

I was sort of shocked when I read this article, but at the same time I wasn't. I knew that some schools were not as lucky as our school but I did not know it was this bad. The test scores were extraordinarily low. 21 schools had to be shut down is Washington D.C. The students in these schools were not getting enough education. They were lacking the proper reading level, and more than the quarters of them did not graduate. I think what Michelle Rhee is doing a great thing. Students deserve an education no matter what their living situation is. If these kids do not get a proper education most likely will not either. More people should be like Michelle Rhee and if the area that they live in does not get enough education should try to improve.♥

Atkins v. Virginia

I don't believe in the death penalty but if i did the Atkins vs. virginia case has an exception in my opinion. If a child were to kill someone they would not be sentenced to the death penalty. I think the same should go for a someone like Atkins because they have the mind of a young child. Like a child he does not know any better from what is right and what is wrong. The death penalty is wrong in my opinion all together because it is saying even though killing is not right if someone kills someone it is okay to make an exception to kill them. Also, that person has a family that cares about them. So essentially by using the death penalty two people are dying an two entire families are devastated from a loss.

Carl Jung started his career in the psychiatric clinic at the University of Zurich as an assistant to Eugen Bleuler in 1900. In his internship he worked out the so-called association experiment. "This method of testing used to reveal affectively significant groups of ideas in the unconscious area of the psyche (the mind)(Carl Jung Biography)" Theses groups would have controlled the affected person and encourage anxieties and inappropriate emotions. After Jung read Sigmund's Frued's Interpretation of Dreams, he found his own ideas to be confirmed and furthered. The beginning of their work together was when he sent his publication Studies in Word Association. It lasted from 1907 until 1913. "Jung was eager to explore the secrets of the psyche expressed by dreaming, fantasies, myths, fairy tales, superstition, and occultism (belief in supernatural powers of forces) (Carl Jung Biography)." Freud had already worked out his theories about the basic cause of neurosis. His belief that all expressions of unconscious are hidden wish fulfillments. Jung thought more that the theories were presumptions and did not full justice to the expressions of psychic life. For Jung unconscious is basically the source of man's creativeness and the roots of a person's consciousness. With his idea's he came into conflict with Freud, who regarded Carl Jung's ideas as unscientific, he accused Freud of being narrow-minded. Freud and his followers disapproved of Jung and emphasized the spiritual aspects of the psyche.(Carl Jung Biography)

When children are little they want to grow up to become someone. Sometimes it will be that they want to be a fire fighter or a star. Other children have bigger dreams. Some want to grow up to defend their country as a soldier, just like the boy in the picture. There was a little boy just like any other child; there was only one thing different about him. When other boys his age went to dress up as police officers and firefighters, or their favorite movie character, he would dress up as soldiers. Just like his father.

“Mom when I grow up I want to be like dad,” I said to her, when she asked me what I wanted to be. I did not really know what he did but it seemed like a good thing to do. My father was my hero and the person I looked up to the most. My mother then asked me if I knew actually what he did. I replied, “Something important,” not wanting my mother to know that I did not know what he did. I was four, how was I supposed to know what my father did. It had to be something good though, something only a real hero could do, and something I would do.

“He defends our country, he protects us, it is important what he does he keeps us safe from bad people. He is a soldier,” my mother said.

“I know,” I replied. I had to seem smart if I wanted to protect the entire country when I grew up. The only thing was, every job has a uniform, if I was going to be a soldier I would need to wear what a soldier wore.

“Since I am going to be a soldier I need to dress like one,” I told my mother very firmly almost as if it was a command.

The next day we went to the store, and bought a soldier uniform. It fit as if it were made for me. It had a hat, and a jacket with buttons on the front and on the sleeves. I looked just like my father.

“Since your father is away doing his job right now why don’t we send him a picture of you and a letter,” my mother asked.

I thought this was the best idea. I can show my dad that I am going to be just like him when I grow up. I told my mom what the letter had to say, it said, “ Dear Dad, I know that you are probably very busy right now, doing your job, defending our country but I have some big news to tell you. When I become older I am going to be a soldier just like you. I even already have the right uniform, see the picture we sent you that’s me. From your son, the next you.”

Some kids will grow up to be a police officer, firefighter or what ever else the dreamed of being. Some will not. Not every little girl is going to grow up to be a star. Probably one in every million of girls who say that will actually become a star. Others will be able to be what they will choose differently.

Myths

Myths mean different things to people. The dictionary definition says, it is a traditional story especially one concerning the early history of people or explaining some natural or social phenomenon, and typically involving a super natural being or events. To me myths means a story that may or may not be true. Sometimes people made them up other times other people thought that people make them up. Some of these include the stories of the jersey devil, the loch ness monster, and many more. There are so many of these stories that are made up over the years and changed over time so one person knows one version and another person knows another version. They can have many multiple meanings. Many have religious or sacred meaning. Myths have been tried to be proven but sometimes are still not. For instance people have taken pictures of the loch ness monster but people say they are fake or drawn.

This monday, september 29, 2008 Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas will start the filming for their Disney Channel Series, Jonas. In the show according to Access Hollywood the jonas brothers new show is supposed to be a comedy. The series will be scripted unlike their "living the dream" series. Ib the show the boy's last name is Lucas, and they live on a street called Jonas. In the series real-life little brother, Frankie Jonas, a.k.a. "The Bonus Jonas" or "Frank the Tank," will be making guest appearances. Their parents are played but actors though. The series will premiere sometime in the spring of 2009 on Disney Channel. Joe has high hopes for the show. "It's going to be a funny show and it's going to be a great cast. I'm really excited."♥

The Jonas Brothers are a great band and I understand that people don't like them, but people completely twist there words around and say that they are just like any other boy band and will be totally "dead" in 10 years. Well maybe the fad will die down in 10 years but they will not be no where. Ok and sure without disney and there looks they might be no where, but you can not really say that because they do have Disney's hollywood records and looks. People say that they compare them selves to the Beatles but they don't other people do. The Jonas Brothers admire them but say that they would never compare their band to the Beatles. Maybe some people think they are not the most talented people every but unlike other boy bands they play instruments and don't just stand there and sing. They also write there own songs from there own life experiences. Disney came to them asking if they would play the songs Year 3000 and Kids of the Future for the movie Meet the Robinson's. Many people think they copied the songs but they really didn't even write. Now they have both of these albums on the top 40 list for albums and they are both under 20. Jonas Brothers might not be the best band in your opinion(they are to me)but they are not what everyone says they are. People should stop judging them and read or find more about them so then they can have at least a real legit reason why they don't like them.♥
